Summer Reading Program
Statistics prove that children who read during the summer months are more prepared to enter school in the fall. The library hosts a fun and informative summer reading program each year with special events, games, guests, prizes and much more.

2010 Summer Theme is
"Make a Splash, Read!"

The Paulding County Carnegie Library's Youth Services Department provides access to the world of reading and information for children of all ages. From birth to teen, from parent to teacher, our well-trained staff will connect you with the books and materials to enrich, entertain and inform.

Story Time
Introducing reading, literature and the library to preschoolers is an important component in childhood literacy development. Our youth services department is a preschooler's door to learning. Our professional and talented staff strive to offer quality weekly theme-based storytimes that, in addition to a story, may include: music, crafts, dancing and interactive fun.

Festive Parties and Events
The Youth Services Department plans special parties and events throughout the year, such as:

Winter Wonderland: This popular event transforms the children's room into a magical place of wonder and imagination. Usually lighted with thousands of twinkle lights, children enjoy stories, games, contests, and a visit from a red-suited, white-bearded friend. If you are quiet enough, you might hear the stomping of reindeer hooves on the roof of the library.

Book Launchings: When a popular book is launched, such as the latest in the Harry Potter series, the Youth Services Department usually introduces it with much fanfare! Late night parties, movies and unique events add to the excitement of books.

Seasonal parties: We love a good party, so you never know when a party will be planned to celebrate spring, fall, summer, winter or no occasion at all!
