What is
Inter-Library Loan?
Inter-Library Loan, a.k.a. ILL, is
the process of borrowing and lending materials between libraries.
What it means to a patron is that most any item will be available via ILL
even if their home library does not own it.
What is the cost?
At one time the library charged for
this service. But since we now participate in a state-wide delivery
service, the fee is waived. We consider ILL an integral part of our
service.
How long will it take to receive an
item?
Most items are available within
three to four day turn-around period. In some cases the items are
available within 24 hours.
What items are available?
Items the library may not own, such
as older movies, music CDs, and other unique titles are most commonly
requested through ILL. Most best sellers are available from the
Paulding County Carnegie Library system.
How long can I borrow an ILL item?
Since the item is borrowed from
another library, the lending library may have their own due date.
Most items are renewable and the average item is loaned for a couple of
weeks.
What is the process?
Any item a patron requests that the
library does not own can be a candidate for Inter-Library Loan.
Requests can be made at any of the library locations or, over the
phone. To utilize ILL, you must have a Paulding County Carnegie
Library card.
