The
Cracker Barrel
Part editorial, part challenge, part vision, the Cracker Barrel is the front page article that many times sets the theme for the issue.

Focus on Trustees
Written by David Miller, State Library of Ohio trustee, this popular feature is the newsletters most requested reprint. Miller addresses a wide range of trustee issues in a no-nonsense style.

Youth Services
Youth advocacy is an integral part of rural librarianship.  This page offers everything from grant resources to national statistics and trends to story time ideas.

Ask Gayle
Written by S. Gayle Hazelbaker, director of the Tecumseh Public Library in Michigan, this column answers questions submitted by our readership.  Ranging from management issues to dress codes this feature provides food for fodder.

What the past State Librarian of Ohio, Mike Lucas had to say about the newsletter:

"In general it does fill a purpose here in the state.  Ohio has many rural libraries, " said Mike Lucas, state librarian. "It gets information to them and lets them know their problems are not that unusual.  It's a good piece of work." -- Mike Lucas
[Defiance (OH) Crescent-News. Monday, January 20, 2003. "Newsletter compiled in Paulding benefits readers internationally".  Page one.]
